Assessing mattress sag for warranty is essential to identify any deterioration. All mattresses sag eventually, but between normal body impressions and genuine sagging are different. To measure accurately, understand the types of deterioration:

• Sagging: Lack of support across the bed, caused by age or a manufacturing defect.
• Sinking: One side dips lower than the other due to uneven weight distribution.
• Indentations: Shallow depressions due to lying in one spot for long periods of time.
• Impressions: Deeper depressions usually caused by uneven weight distribution.

For warranty purposes, identify genuine sagging and not just normal body impressions as these aren't covered. The only way to resolve it permanently is by replacing the mattress; temporary fixes such as sturdier support or a latex topper may help but won't fix it for good.

Take measurements from several points on the mattress including centre and sides; if they exceed 1½ inches (3-4 cm), it's likely covered by warranty.
